WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Arve Henriksen Revisited

Posted over 2 years ago
A few posts back I featured this highly talented and little known musician..http://mog.com/MusikMagik/blog_post/128254.. I wanted to offer a second helping, since the first course probably didn't do full justice. For sure, he's an acquired taste, but such beautiful music deserves its best shot at gaining a broader audience :-)So, here's a track from his 2004 album "Chiaroscuro". Best listened to with minimal distractions (over a nice pair of headphones with a glass of wine perhaps?). Some lovely percussion accompaniment, including a kalimba (african thumb piano), an instrument that has been around for hundreds of years in various forms. Listen closely.Enjoy.MM

  2. MusikMagik says Ah, welcome back Mr B. Actually I have some rather nice wines acquired from our Santa Cruz mountains on a recent "passport weekend". I only wish I had some glasses like this one to quaff from :-) Glad you like Mr Henriksen. I am deep into Scandanavian artists on ECM at the moment. More to follow soon. MM

  3. Dzendvokh says ECM has some really good stuff...... this sounds appropriate for that label from what I have in my collection. Never heard Henriksen before though... thanks for turning me on to him

  4. MusikMagik says Hi Dzendvokh, My pleasure. I hope to get to posting more from the ECM catalog. They have sooo much quality stuff and it goes back a long ways. Eberhard Weber is another ECM artist that I'm really enjoying at the moment. Cheers MM
