Electric McLaughlin

I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing John McLaughlin's Fourth Dimension the weekend before last in San Francisco. This was the 8th time I've seen him over the years (first was Reading Festival, UK 1975 with the original Mahavishnu Orchestra lineup!).Playing fantastic raw fusion jazz, and now in his 60s, McLaughlin continues to draw amazing musicians around him and drives them to greater and greater heights in much the same way as Miles Davis did when McLaughlin was just a young 'un. Hadrein Feraud was jaw-droppingly good on bass, and Mark Mondesir (drums) and Gary Husband (keyboards and percussion) were excellent also. Still a master of fusion, it's great to hear McLaughlin playing electric guitar again with such passion.A track from the recent Industrial Zen album captures the flavor nicely.
