Thoughtful Electronica - Apparat

Posted over 2 years ago
A recent happy discovery for me via the excellent "Hype Machine":http://hypem.com is Apparat. His album "Walls" is a little gem that contains some very refreshing audio textures, beats and hooks. "Hailin From The Edge" is probably the most commercial track on the album, but here's my current favorite track - "Over And Over".Enjoy.MM

  1. Max Load says Sounds interesting. Going to take a punt on Duplex.
Leads me to think about digging out some Scanner.

  2. Max Load says Duplex good!
Oddly, can't find any Scanner. Was sure I had some. Can only find a dull heavy rock band by the same name.

  3. MusikMagik says OK must pick up Duplex also. Thanks! Scanner - yup there's a German rock band with that name, but there's also Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner, from Britain....I don't have any of his stuff. Worth checking out? His bio in wikipedia is an interesting read.

  4. Max Load says Yep, Rimbaud is the one I meant. Saw him a couple of years ago playing guitar with a band called Githead with Colin(?) from Wire. Good stuff. And thought I had some interesting urban soundscape sort of stuff by him - but apparently not. He also had an under-attended installation at a recent video game exhibit at the Science Museum in London. Will check out the Wikipedia thing to see if there are any pointers to the sort of material I'm after.
I'm (slightly forcefully) advised that Apparat stuff sounds best at low volume, and so far I'm inclined to agree. But will be giving it a go with the volume up on the walkman soon.
