Sunday Music - Oliver Schroer / Peter Katz

Posted 4 months ago

This is sad, but something is compelling me to post it, because of the courage shown and Peter's tribute to the man.

I just came across this Canadian folk artist last night, while going through the new releases links at the community site.

I started playing his new album Still Mind Still by Peter Katz and really liked him. So I Liked him on fb and checked out his web site. I found something he calls e-songs Peter Katz E-Song - Oliver's Tune and this is his first.

I watched this video and learned of a Canadian violinist named Oliver. Then I heard an acoustic version of his tribute song.

It moved me. Then I watched this. (Caution, this is real hard to watch and read)

Then I watched the video of Oliver's

A Thousand Thank-Yous". Filmed in Toronto, at Trinity-St.Paul's Church. on his

"Last Concert on his Tour of This Planet" and played the finished studio version found on the e-songs page. I thought it was a wonderful tribute and beautiful melding of the 2 songs.

Oliver gave his last performance, and passed away less than a month later, but having done what he loved to the end.

I thought you would like to know about Peter and the story behind this song. Oliver's work is on MOG, as well as some of Peter's, so check out more, when you can stop crying.

I don't blame you for not reading it. I didn't have any warning of what I was going to read and how moving it would be- and once I started, I had to continue.

I too will be enjoying Peter Katz more here and at Myspace.
