Discover Jim Boggia

Posted almost 4 years ago

Nice mixture of styles on this album. Here's a bit about him from Amazon:

"Where," you ask, "have all the good old singer-songwriters gone?" Fear not, disheartened lover of old LPs. Philly's Boggia evokes songsmiths from Stevens to Taylor, modernizing them gracefully with the L.A. baroque-pop stylings of Penn, Mann, and Brion.

"Misadventures In Stereo," the third album by widely lauded singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jim Boggia, is unmistakably the work of a true believer and pop craftsman who's closely acquainted with music's capacity for transcendent uplift. His confessional, deeply personal lyrics tap into the deepest and most universal of human emotions. Born blind in one eye and with limited vision in the other, Boggia grew up an only child with an acutely developed ear for music.

Mastering done at Abbey Road! Should be released Aug 5th.

Wowie zowie. This guy is a Philly native and his name is only vaguely familiar. But this is one great track, inspiring me to find his website and sign on to his mailing list. I'm in the Philly suburbs, and thrilled to find another local artist to focus on (others: Ike, the Lowlands).

Here's another one I think you'll like. I had a hard time deciding which ones I should post, since they are all really good cuts. This one is called On Your Birthday.
