Great Power Pop From Dennis Diken with Bell Sound
What a treasure this album is. If you like sixties pop music, you will be listening to this CD non-stop like I have since finding it. Dennis is the drummer for The Smithereens and with the help of some very notable power pop friends, has crafted an album not to be missed.
Along with his collaborator Pete DiBella, friends helping out are Brian Wilson producer Andy Paley, The Honeys, Jason Falkner, and members of The Wondermints. Most of the songs hit your ear like lost classics from bands gone by. Influences heard are definitely The Beach Boys, but also The Who, The Turtles, The Association, The Troggs and many others.
I have to give you a fair sampling, so here are 4 of my immediate favorites.
The Sun's Gonna Shine in the Morning
I've Been Away

Standing in That Line
Long Lonely Ride

Indeed a back to the past blast. Brian Wilson's influence is obvious. Good stuff.
I have to agree with the influences lists they all seem to be found somewhere during the listening process. Nice stuff.
