Songs By Other People - Various Artists
-
Artist:
Some people like to cover an artist in the same form or as close to the original as they can, rather than interpreting the song in a new fashion. Don't know why they don't want to give the song a new unique treatment, but they don't.
I ran into a handful of these sort of "variations" in last week's new releases and thought I'd share them with you. You may like them all, or some, or none. It's all good. It's nice to hear these song Regardless. Enjoy
Uncle Kracker- Mainstreet
KSM- I Want You To Want Me
Ace Frehley- Fox On The Run
Big Star- Till The End Of The Day
Buckcherry- Highway Star

.....Don't get me going on covers. They have to justify their existance.....& yet....u just shone a light in my cavernous headbone. to wit: Sometimes a good song deserves a new audience....if the original is largely forgotten or unfairly overlooked.
Good call Rex!
I liked the covers of Mainstreet and Highway Star. The others not so much and of the other three I definitely prefer the original Kinks version of Till The End Of The Day.
I like/dislike covers. Depends. My fav in this bunch was Highway Star. But then, that's a song you'd have to be a very new newbie to screw up since the tune on its own rocks.
When most covers are done in concert, they are done pretty true to original form. So, I guess it's not too far fetched to think when bands record them, they would be truer to original form, unless they are deliberately trying to re-imagine them.
Maybe all these guys treated it as homework.
