LIVE MUSIC IS BETTER…As DMDM Likes To Say

Posted 7 months ago

DMDM definitely has a point. It's always great to hear live music, especially when you don't have the budget to get to all the shows you'd like to. And, there are sooooooooooo many groups out there.

Well, that got me thinking and from a recent MMN post, I was reminded that there is a TON of live music all in one place on the internet for your listening enjoyment. Way before MOG was in my life, I knew about this site and downloaded tracks from it, but have not in a long time. The Site Is Archive.org

Now that there is a MOG and an M-O-S, I think we should ban together and pick the site apart and start exposing the great recordings. It would be overwhelming for one person, but a bunch of MOGgers exploring the site, digging in and finding their favorite tracks or shows and leaving bread crumbs for others who want the freely offered music, would be cool. We can all enjoy countless hours of other MOGger's LIVE posts.

Once you go to the site to find your posts, you may find that some artists have multiple shows available- most from high quality soundboard recordings. You can assemble CDs from the best quality tracks from multiple shows if you want and create your own super fantastic custom live event.

Let's get going, what do you say? You with me on this?

Here's a great track from this great live band. GO TO THE SHOW PAGE for more and to choose your DLs.

That would be a good thing. And you should get some coin for it too.

I'd be interested to know: why is live music better. Are we talking actually being at a concert - that I could understand. Or that recordings of live music is better than studio craft? DMDM has been saying that for a long time, but has never elaborated and I'm not sure I agree with him.

I think it's the Feeling of being there and experiencing the ambiance and character of the performers, more so than the technical proficency of the production. But, I'll let Jeff clarify his views, if he cares to.
