Once I finally get the hang of this thing, they come and tell me it's over? The final day or Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park got off to a nice slow start with some french toast and temperatures in the low seventies. The reason I never pursued a career in advertising. I knew I would be tempted to do things like this. or like this......... Is it OK that the Flaming Lips are hocking Dells? Is it OK that Wilco is providing the soundtrack to a VW commercial? I say no. BUT and this is a bit of a big and hairy _but_......... I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard time with Sky Blue Sky at first. You spend a great deal of time anticipating a record and building an idea (sometimes subconsciously) of what it will/should sound like, and when it finally arrives it's all too easy to focus on how much it differs from your expectations, rather than simply focusing on what's there.
But the more I just let it be what it is, not what I would have had it be, the more I get out of it. And it's turning out to be r... MORE
