Starting with her first solo CD, Little Earthquakes, Tori Amos uses unorthodox arrangements that often focus on the piano with minimal accompaniment. In “Crucify,” the drum part is largely just kick drum and, in the chorus, a low tom that evokes a relentless hammering. In the verses of “Precious Things,” the underlying rhythmic element is not even percussion but what sounds like eighth-note bursts of breath, perhaps inspired by the opening line “so I ran faster.”

Tori uses highly personal and idiosyncratic language in her lyrics that makes the songs often difficult to decipher and open to multiple interpretations. We don't always know exactly what she's talking about, but her choice of words and imagery convey an underlying emotional state that we understand. Lately i felt an inner need to listen to female voices..in all kinds of music..forgive me if i am not too much renovated..i suspect there must be a lot of young artists worthy to listen to..but i was looking for this special character, we all know, in some very well known women, like Billy, like Janis, like Amy, nowadays, like Kate Bush, like Cesaria Evora and like the one i wanted you to listen to..a very special edition of nirvana's smells like teen spirit..cheers..
