So - it's thursday, i'm at work, and i am so tired. Last night we made it out to see the Gutter Twins perform at the Avalon - a nice venue, but one i don't find myself going to often. The last time i was there, in fact, was to see Greg Dulli. this was the last stop on their US tour, and there i was again - this time it was Dulli and Mark Lanegan. NC State, North Carolina, and Duke all begin opening practice tonight at seven p.m. Eastern along with the rest of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Locally, State and Duke are having closed practices for their first night, but Carolina is having their usual schmooze fest where the players shoot layups, sign autographs for girls, and pretend they dont exist to sell UNC sports apparel. The Short Stop is Greg Dulli's bar in LA. I've wanted to go to it last time I was in LA, but I forgot the address. When we head there for the Peter Bjorn and John show, I kinda hope we have time to stop and check it out. Apparently there's PBR. The Short Stop. Ever get the feeling you had too many bootlegs? Like you need some sort of a cleansing process from the drama of properly tagging and cataloging hundreds of shows? If you could steal anyone's singing voice...who would it be? Me? I'd appropriate the voices of Greg Dulli (sexy as hell, and a whole lot smokier), Jeff Buckley (unquestionably angelic), and Chet Baker (his voice is a better jazz instrument than the trumpet). Sweet! I went out to my mailbox not 10 minutes ago to find a lumpy little package from One Little Indian Records containing the new Twilight Singers EP _A Stitch In Time_. Sweet! The album kicks of with the dulcet tones of Mr. Mark Lanegan, so ladies, be ready. I know he has a fan club on here...It's good, probably won't win them any new fans, but it's a right treat for the initiated. If you're already a fan, buy it now. Roland has once again proven a good musical source as he has provided me with an amazing track by the Twilight Singers, a group that was formed by the Afghan Whigs' lead singer. "Live With Me" adds to the general gloom of my record collection, with it's slow guitars and deep, dark voice. The bass accents the notes well, but the drums all of a sudden pick up the beat and you have a mixed result: something that feels languid, but you could dance with the pulse anyway. I love... MOR
