Come on! Even Rollingstone said so...and don't you feel really American when you listen to the Ramones, even if you aren't?
"The Ramones always believed in their music's message of self-deliverance. They celebrated rock & roll, patriotic flag-wavers, simultaneously harking backward and forward. Their music wasn't angry, though it did have firepower and relentless energy. If anything, the Ramones affirmed that if they could do it, you could do it; just be resolute. Cou... MORE
i just watched a documentary on the ramones, because i'm a nerd. anyways, it was actually a pretty sad movie. i didn't know the ramones didn't get along. i had the chance to see them live in high school and i was so stupid, i rushed home early from the festival because i was afraid i would miss the last metro train home. now it's too late.
also saw diving bell and butterfly yesterday. it was a beautiful movie with great music.
i was in my car coming home and the radio had the ramones playing. i wanna be your boyfriend is probably my favorite ramones song but it's hard to choose a favorite ramones song. they're all gems. i have to download cheetah girls and cascada now for my fourth grade class mix. argh. i think it's funny that my fourth graders know the dead kennedys' holiday in cambodia. it's all thanks to guitar hero. they started humming the tune when i mentioned cambodia yesterday in... CUZ I FRIGGIN CAN'T !!! Please go to my PAGE - if you can get there - to read the entire post... THANKS !!! TRUST ME, I would LOVE to get my thoughts down in the world of MOG - I shared the experience of a lifetime with 8 other people whom I now consider & LOVE like family... They are expressing their throughts & ideas regarding our trip to the SoCal desert & if I am lucky I can post a comment or two (most get gobbled up by SCHLOOPY), but after what seems like the 453... Sunday 9 degrees. With the wind -25 degrees.Monday 10 degrees. With the wind -15 degrees. While this is not unheard of it is colder than normal. Heat is on all the time and my sinus' are killing me. Dried out, fried out and burned out. It seems like a perfect setting for being laid off last week. Left out in the cold and no warmth in sight. I have to give credit where credit is due. My sweetheart certainly made me feel appreciated over the weekend (all the time rea... MORE
Christmas Eve, as I was out with the boys running some last minute errands, I got the greatest thrill. My youngest son Josh was listening along to the mixtape (in CD format) in the car, and _singing along_. Wouldn't that just melt your heart? It did mine, especially on a very trying day otherwise. Thus, the idea for a final Christmas present was hatched. I spent that night figuring out songs that I knew he liked, and songs that I thought he might like. See, I've figured ... MORE
The other day, MOGger laureate lucystarlite opined that Wham’s “Last Christmas” was one of her guilty-pleasure holiday favorites. (http://mog.com/lucysilverlining/blog_post/129146) And she started me to thinking about my own obsession with Yuletide music. I’ve got it bad, and have been this way since childhood – despite my Judaic roots. I’ve got to admit that there are all too many Xmas songs that I enjoy and that could be tabbed as guilty pleasures - depending on who's ... MORE
The stars align, matching up three of my favorite things: 1. music2. my ipod3. education & learning Steve Van Zandt has written a music history curriculum, focusing on rock music primarily, and David Brooks wrote about it in the NY Times, about The Segmented Society. It seems that rock n roll will in fact save our souls, or at least, unite us. Since I used to teach history, I often wanted to do an entire year of looking at US History through the lens of the music of e... MORE
