I just love a song that starts out counting. It brings such promise. The other day I heard this song by The Kooks and I am so happy the one, two, three, fouring paid off. Sometimes it doesn't but thankfully, i can't think of any of those songs right now.... MORE

The Kooks released their latest album, "Konk," on April 11th. It sounds pretty much the same as their previous one, but with a bit more "pop" to it. I don't know what it is, but there is something about British pop that tickles my fancy. Here is the video for their single, "Always Where I Need To Be."... MORE

This is a slightly different version of what i originally posted and deleted; i discovered after i posted it that the Kooks video i had included was auto-play. Wrong. So here's the post without the video: Periodically, i check in at the alt.fan.kinks newsgroup (which used to be active as heck, including monthly live chat get-togethers, but is now mostly moribuind(, and today i hit a query from someone asking about the Kooks, who have a new album called Konk out. ... Just saw the viddie of The Kooks and along with loving this snappy tune, am wondering if they are looking like The Faces on purpose. I know I've seen that stripey rock star shirt somewhere before.

This will Help: Never mind that they played somewhere called freebutt which actually looks pretty damn cool.
When The Kooks play maybe you will get lost in their clear, yearning sound. And... if like me you live in a part of this country that will soon lose light and warmth...oh forget it, now I'm depressed.... MORE

I have discovered a new favorite half hour of television. The Dive, weekends on Fuse. A half hour of indie videos of indie music featuring indie boys....hubba. Videos sans fx and disco lighting and scantily clad barely-legals. Videos that harken back to an era when video could have, in fact, killed the radio star. I only wish it were on longer and every night. The problem with The Dive, however, is the same problem with MySpace. It is making indie and underground c... MORE

I put on my Santa Hat today, retreated to my thinking spot and pondered who my favorite new band of 2006 was. Now, I know that in my dotage I am not as adventerous as I once was in trying out new music and I've probably missed some gems, so I'm almost certainly going to slight some deserving band - but I'm going to live with that. So, without further ado, I give you my favorite new band of 2006: _The Kooks_. I don't think these guys are going to change music history or... MORE

Finally, I burned the kooks album from my über-cool father, and got to listen to the entire thing in it's entirity {sp?} all i have to say...unbelievably awesome. naive had to grow on me a bit, but other than that, i was humming the kooks catchy tunes all day, getting me in trouble in all 9 periods {yes, even lunch.}. And once again, my so-called "friends" relied on appearance. "ew. he's ugly, i'd never listen to them." and once again, i have to explain to them that britney s... MORE

This is more a welcome blog to myself. I have to say I am very excited to find a new site that is "just" starting, and is all about music. I think I'm going to like Mog a lot, but I'm new so I don't know exactly what to do here. Hopefully some experienced Mogger will take pity on me and help me out. If not, I'm still stoked cuz Ben Gibbard is on here and he is one of my favorite artists. I just got the 2 part 7" series of "I will follow you into the dark" which is such a... MORE
