Many people can testify that in June, I passed by Gossip's gig posters in London and I repeatedly mumbled "I hate The Gossip". Fast forward to a week or so ago. I'm at a film festival partay, and I hear this song blowing up the speakers in a fantastic way. I enjoy it tremendously, and next morning, I google some of the lyrics I caught. Result? The band from Arkansas with the notable big woman has canceled their Autumn US tour. The Gossip decided the show must not go on citing the delay of their upcoming live album, which was due to be released in November. Originally scheduled to kick off in Seattle on November 3 and conclude in Chicago on November 20, the band have not yet announced when they will reschedule the tour or a new release date for the album. Just two weeks ago The Gossip tacked on extra tour dates in the U.S. from November 3rd in Seattle to the 20th in Chicago. But things went wrong with their live album, which was scheduled for November got bitten by the delay bug. The group wants their touring and album to coicide with one another, therefore the dates will be rescheduled at a later time.

The Gossip have added a bunch more US dates to thier fall tour. The jaunt kicks off November 2nd in Portland and ends now on November 20th at Chicago's Metro. Although they briefly toured the U.S. earlier this summer as a part of the True Colors Tour, The Gossip will be heading back home for a short string of dates. Right now the band is hard at work on a tour of Europe, and will remain there until mid September finishing up gigs. Panther and The Long Blondes will be playing alongside Beth's bunch once they hit states side.

While the album ("Standing in the Way of Control") has been out since 2006, I've only just discovered it. And I'm happy. Singer Beth Ditto's smooth voice (though she can rock) combined with the band's awesome instrumentals (provided by drummer Hannah Billie and guitarist Bruce Paine) are a perfect mix that doesn't dare leave the listener disappointed. I spent Memorial Day weekend 2005 in Boston at my friend Bad Andy's wedding.
