Mog Friends - Come warm my new home

Blog post image preview   The Internet is a big place and I can only be in so many locations at once. As much as I love mog and music lovers, I decided to move all my posts to one central location so I can spend more time writing and less time cutting, pasting and surfing.   My new blog, Get Gal VanIZed is the central location I'm referring to and though it is not solely a "music blog/mog", being the music lover I am means that pretty much every blog has a music reference or music link. In ... MORE

Gatecrasher Festival Witnesses First Festival Casualty Of 2008

Blog post image preview Imagine going to a festival and seeing a sign like this hanging up next to the stage: "While we are not at this stage linking the death to the misuse of drugs, intelligence sources, police and security operators have identified and arrested a number of drug dealers within the event." That's what happened at the DJ and electronica heavy Gatecrasher festival over the past weekend. Held in Northhampton, England the festival was a washout this year forcing acts like Chem... MORE

Ed Simons, presumably well over his break up with Lily Allen by now, will play a rare reggae set in London this month. He's the "very special secret guest" that's been hyped for the Lake of the Stars Launch Party. Lake of the Stars is an annual music festival in Malawi and there will be a launch party in London to kick it off. The London party takes place at Unit 7 on Saturday May 24th and proceeds will fund the music festival in Malawi - "the warm heart of Africa" - on... MORE

The Conforming Nonconformist

Artist:
Album: B-Sides, Volume 1
Today, I bought something from iTunes for the very first time, even though I don't own an iPod. You see, I received an e-mail letting me know that The Chemical Brothers released the collection B-Sides Volume 1 exclusively on iTunes. As a longtime fan of the duo, I definitely wanted to hear it. I found it on iTunes and discovered that it was in iTunes Plus format, meaning that I didn't need an iPod to play it. That lead me to buy the album and promptly load it on my C... MORE

In my double-life as a jet-setting music enthusiast, I would definitely be in London (again, London... sigh.) 6 and 7 and 9 September to enjoy two different audio-visual sensory-immersive events at the ICA. On Thursday the 6th, Matthew Herbert will provide the audio for Joji Koyama's video, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) will be paired with Brian Degraw (Gang Gang Dance), and Max Hattler will show his films to Economy Wolf's soundtrack. Then, on Friday night, the Warp Films P... MORE

New Review: We Are The Night by The Chemical Brothers

Artist:
Album: We Are The Night [7/17]
Track: All Rights Reversed - (with The Klaxons)
(59)

The collaborations on We Are The Night are among the album's strongest. The one that stands above the rest is “All Rights Reversed,” which features The Klaxons. Haunting background vocals and a clattery beat help make it one of the best tracks on the album. Midlake's Tim Smith provides the v

This Just Couldn't Wait

(247)
Normally, I try not to post any songs from an album I'm going to review until, well, I review it. However, there is a track on The Chemical Brothers' new album, We Are The Night, that I had to post. It's a track called “The Salmon Dance” and it features Fatlip of The Pharcyde. All I will say is that yes, this is a Chemical Brothers track and yes, it is actually on the album. I say this because after listening to it, you might not believe me. P.S.: I actually like ...
