Leave it to my iPod shuffle to once again nail it. (sure I wish it was also capable of nailing other things ;) - but 'til that happens - I will have to satisfy myself with it's uncanny ability to play what I really need to hear about 80% of the time or so). We watched Pete and Pete last night on dvd and watched an episode where little Pete found his first favorite song. This made me wonder what my first favorite song was. I'm pretty sure it was "You Might Think" by The Cars. I loved the awful, cheesy video so much. I would always be so excited every time I saw it on MTV. I associate warm weather with The Cars also. There's nothing better than riding down the road with the windows open listening to "Magic" or "Just What... MORE

Skinny ties abound in this 1980 video from The Cars for "Touch And Go". This isn't an obscure track by any stretch of the word, it still gets airplay on classic rock raio. But I figured I'd include it because Panorama is kind of the "lost" Cars album. Most (not all) people thought it sucked when it came out, especially after the pop genius of their debut, and the follow up, "Candy-O". I always thought the only great songs on Panorama were "Touch and Go" and the title track... MORE

My heart is a little sad as I'm listening to the cars, because this song is automatically associated with circuit city now. Damn commercials using the chorus of this song... it's like when I hear Iron and Wine's cover of "Such Great Heights" I think of M & Ms... why, why, why? I mean, I like M & Ms, and I don't entirely hate circuit city, but I hate I instantly associate some great songs with product... sadness.

i revisited this album today.what an amazing and wonderful collection of songs-all on the debut release... review from allmusic.com: The Cars' 1978 self-titled debut, issued on the Elektra label, is a genuine rock masterpiece. The band jokingly referred to the album as their "true greatest-hits album," but it's no exaggeration - all nine tracks are new wave/rock classics, still in rotation on rock radio. Like i didn't lose enough hours of the day to MOG as it was...but now that the audio samples are hassle free, its even worse! So now I spend countless hours bopping from mogger to mogger and checking out what they have been listening to AND countless hours on the MOGOS...THANK you MOG!!
