You may recall a recent endorsement for The Subways on the Smashing Pumpkins' mizzle$pace. Or perhaps you were already an avid fan of the UK band. Apparently they just held an intimate come-back gig at the Buffalo Bar in London, just before jetsetting off to the US to record their new album. most of the time i’m really happy to discover new and amazingly sounding bands, but from time to time i feel downright embarrassed and annoyed that i haven’t heard them before, because, seriously, i don’t discover them, they’re already there, incredible musicians performing incredible songs.. and they’ve been there for a long time, playing and recording and touring and building a fan base and… why did i not know them until now! well, suffices to say i’m annoyed by my own i... Lollapalooza was many months ago but I still think about it on a weekly, if not daily, basis. It was, hands down, my three favorite days of the year. It may have took me an eternity to get around to adding The Subways 2005 debut album to my collection, but I have to say on first listen I'm pleasantly suprised. "Young For Eternity" is an incredibly mature and varied collection of songs for a band so young. The Subways wear their influences on their sleeve whilst still managing to craft a sound unique enough to call their own. Lyrically there's a lot of room for improvement but I'm sure that will improve in time. I won't ... MORE
