The new album from The Gossip, Live In Liverpool, is simply incredible. Beth Ditto's singing reminds of Janis Joplin in the power and raw emotion. Here's one of my favorites.

Haven’t seen The Gossip’s Beth Ditto up close and personal? (Girlfriend shakes what she's got!) Giving a glimpse of the Portland, OR-based dance band, who has reached chart-topping status in the UK but not so much in the US, will be the release of their first live CD/DVD, Gossip: Live in Liverpool on April 15th. Many people can testify that in June, I passed by Gossip's gig posters in London and I repeatedly mumbled "I hate The Gossip". Fast forward to a week or so ago. I'm at a film festival partay, and I hear this song blowing up the speakers in a fantastic way. I enjoy it tremendously, and next morning, I google some of the lyrics I caught. Result? I spent Memorial Day weekend 2005 in Boston at my friend Bad Andy's wedding. I am thrilled I was able to go, but I have to admit what compelled me make sure I was there was the fact I knew his family wouldn't be. I didn't need to worry though, as his husband's family was there and welcoming as well as tons of their friends. It was one of the few weddings I've been to where everyone seemed to get along.
