Theres so much you can say about Stevie, he's a legend, he's an icon, and he's just so damned good. He turns 58 today so i figured MOG could show him a little love. If you have a favorite song by Mr. Wonder (and you should), post the song link or Youtube video inside. I'm posting "Overjoyed", because I think it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard...... MORE

and it's not because he smiles so much, it's because of my childhood associations with his incredible songs in the key of life album.

Stevie Wonder has so many superfluous descriptors next to his name that its redundant to add more. Here's some vintage Stevie from 1974, when he was at the top of his craft.

A Motown alum, hipster rockers and a member of Led Zeppelin are among the headliners for the 2008 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival. Stevie Wonder, the Raconteurs and Robert Plant with Alison Krauss, as well as pianoman Billy Joel, the margarita loving Jimmy Buffett and jammers Widespread Panic will all headline the festival, scheduled for two weekends, April 25th-27th, May 1st-4th.
The list doesn't stop there. Sheryl Crow, who drops a new album in the next m... MORE

How important is a campaign song? Well, one should choose accurately. After Illinois Senator and Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama lost unexpectedly to fellow candidate and New York Senator Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary, Obama's camp was ridiculed for playing Stevie Wonder's 'Signed Sealed Delivered, I'm Yours" after the defeat. The classic tune is know for the lyrics "Here I am baby/Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours/(You got my future in your h... MORE

Two Stevie's causing lightning to strike along with Jody Watley. This was recorded for an MTV special in the early 90s. Stevie Ray's rhythm comping and fills are nasty beyond belief. Stevie Ray sings the first chorus, Stevie Wonder the second, and Jody Watley the third. Best performance I've ever heard of "Superstition". Seeing video for it is a bonus and makes it even more fun.... MORE

One of the vinyl Christmas albums that my family owns is Stevie Wonder's Christmas album, originally called Someday At Christmas. The title track from that album is one of my favorites and it's the track I'm posting today. One thing that attracts me to this song is that it hopes for a perfect world one day rather than taking us to one in song. It acknowledges the problems of today instead of just assuming they don't exist. However, it's not depressing either. Enj... MORE

Stevie Wonder playing Baghdad in the near future may be our only hope for peace. The ultimate group hug was in effect throughout the night. It felt like everyone at the MSG show last night walked out holding hands with one another. The funkified lovefest

OK, my fellow Moggers. The SSE is enlisting your help on an issue of supreme musical importance.
I ran across a copy of Stevie Wonder's Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants album (1979, Tamla) earlier this evening. The album is less well known than most of Stevie's other seventies repertoire, but musically as innovative.
The one commercially successful track from this album is "Send One Your Love." The vocal is the commercial release, but the album also has a... MORE

I took a train from Portland OR. to Seattle WA., straight through the Oregon Cascades one snowy day in late February and this was the only album I had to listen to, which wasn't so bad at all.
(UPS is supposed to be delivering my new Photoshop today and I'll be damned if I miss it, it's so beautiful outside that it's killing me to be inside.)... MORE
