The series of noise bursts that signal the beginning of this song trigger an involuntary rush of memories. Last one, I promise. This release was very mellow. It was released in 97 and I didn't like it quite as much as the older stuff. It's not horrible, just not as intriguing to me. Nonetheless, there are some tracks I really like on here, they expanded their sound to include some different sounding arrangements and instrumentation, while maintaining the layered vocals and the base sound that put them on the map. These are from a compilation of sorts I guess. It's got a bunch of their old stuff on it. It's not as produced and the sound is a bit unrefined, but I love the crassness of it. The tones are harsher and it's a bit (just a bit) more guitar driven and noisy. I like it! Revox John Cage Bubblegum

This disc has my most favorite track off of it, The Noise Of Carpet. I love the vocalization going on here on both of these tracks. I got acquainted with Stereolab back in the mid 90's. I was really burnt out on metal (at the time). Everyone was doing grunge or trying to sound like Nirvana or acoustipop crap, or just really horrible death metal. And I was done with it for a bit.
