In a previous post I mentioned the book on the post-punk era. A band that started on the tail end of it was The Sisters of Mercy.Honestly I consider them goth. AND I think that is a good thing. I am not entirely sure why goth is such an ugly word nowadays. Anyone from the early to mid 80s that had any sort of prominence are now denouncing that tag like a DNA stained dress. Sure you can critique its modern day relevance but all genres of music has the embarrassing side... MORE

I do better with nostalgia when I can pinpoint exactly why I became thrilled with a song in the first place. In the case of Sisters of Mercy, it wasn't really that Nick and Pete Bell (East Lansing's resident goth brothers and heirs to the Bell's Greek Pizza throne) were the seniors in high school telling me what was cool and what was not... Went to the farewell gig in London's Royal Albert Hall during 1985. Yes, 1985! Andrew Eldritch came back again but it was never the same.... ;-)

Alright, one thing I have been really enjoying since joining the mog-o-sphere is the ability to remenisce (sp?). Some videos instantly have the ability to take me back to the time and place where I most enjoyed hearing the songs, whether that was a dance or rock club, bar, concert, party, or just relaxing at home or with friends. I have to give props to C-Mor Kinkadoink for really letting me melt back into the past. Which led me on a long youtube exploration lol.....anyo... MORE
