Sigur Rós make landscape music. It’s kinetic, progressive, scenic, responsive, complimentary. Subtle, yet emotive and powerful, the Icelandic group’s fifth album, med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust (which translates to "with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly"), is not drastically different from Sigur Rós’s previous work. The new Sigur Rós album, með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, which we understand via our friends at Stereogum means ("with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly"), is due out in most of the world June 23 and the U.S. June 24. Here's a track off it.

Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust!!! (Try saying that fast ten times.) Yeah, it's pretty easy to confuse that little fragment with some J.R.R. Tolkien Elvish language scripture but the-not-so-little phrase happens to be the title of Sigur Rós fifth studio album. I love it when artists do things like this. Sigur Rós has recently uploaded the full movie Heima for their fans on YouTube. There is also an unreleased clip that can be downloaded from their website. For the first time in a long while I walked to work. And it was GREAT. The view from my usual lookout spot was particularly fine, correctly presaging a mild, clear and glassy calm day.
