This is the first song that opened my eyes to the fact that trumpet can be a great addition to practically any style, and not just ska, contrary to popular misconception. I was a band geek in hs, and put my trumpet on the backburner to pick up a guitar. I have dusted the trumpet case off after hearing this though, great compliment to her vocal tone.
I recently re-connected with an old friend of mine from Kentucky. It had been a while since we last spoke and it wasn't long at all before the conversation turned to music. Turns out we like a lot of the same bands (Death Cab, Camera Obscura, and of course Kentucky natives My Morning Jacket), but we also like a lot of bands and artists from our local area. I've been a fan of Sarah Harmer since her days in Weeping Tile. It's a good thing that my music tastes cross almost all boundaries because Sarah's career has taken her through several different styles.
