I found this as an mp3 on someone's drive a few years ago and it's been a fairly consistent joy ever since. Everything that's great musically about Queen. Everything that's great vocally about George Michael. I had no idea where it was from until I found this on YouTube - the Freddy Mercury Tribute at Wembley back in...1990? According to a comment on the page, George has said this is his best ever performance. I can believe it. Maybe that's why he plays so seldom. Or may... MORE

One thing I'm always amazed with here in MOGville is the sense of community. I know that's a common recurring theme in a lot of our posts, but that doesn't make it any less special. I'm surprised on a daily basis that I'm still just has gung ho about MOG as I was a year and a bit ago when I first started out. This is the longest I've ever stayed active in any sort of online community, and the great thing is I'm still just as excited about it as I always was. Of cour... MORE

Hello moggers, Welcome to my first post! You will find me taking my first mog-baby steps, as I am still sorting out how to work this. I was attracted to the network as it focuses on music. However, I'm a little spooked by the way that Big Brother Mog digs in my library and can see everything I've listened to. Do I really want it that automatic?
Anyway, it is at the very least interesting to be on here and refreshing to hear not just spewings from industry spin doc... MORE

Queen really worked with dynamics in this song, and it pays off handsomely. Freddie Mercury croons a smooth vocal to compliment the minimal bass, handclaps and guitar in the verses, and it all builds up to a satisfyingly powerful chorus every time. The lyrics seem to fluctuate between serious, playful, and downright weird in some places.
"The Game" is the same album where you will find "Another One Bites the Dust" and... MORE

Unless you have your head buried deeply under the sand, there's no way you missed that the New York Giants are the Super Bowl victors. On Super Tuesday / Mardi Gras and the eve of Chinese Lunar New Year (which actually begins today), there was a Victory Parade complete with ticker tape and all the fanfare in the Canyon of Heroes in Manhattan's downtown financial district... quite a LOT of whoop-di-doo for a single day...
Today, as she was describing the mood do... MORE

I recently dug up Queen's A Night at the Opera and was surprised at how inventive and even daring it was for pop. The Prophet's Song in particular struck me as surprsingly progressive for its day (considering prog was vilified in the late 70s / early 80s...) Anyway, this led me to looking for Bohemian Rhapsody on Youtube and, lo and behold, finding a superb cover of it by Austrian brass band Mnozil Brass. Check it out...... MORE

Wow, its been almost a month since my last post. I usually do this MOG thing at work and they've been laying it on thick lately. Don't worry, I've been slacking in many other ways. However, in this time I've thought of many new songs to share. This being on top of my list.
I've recently got into this tune and I never knew that it was a Queen+Bowie collaborative effort. I guess I didn't listen to Bowie enough to recognize him back when me and my friends used to s... MORE

QUEEN Throughout the years, no other rock band has conquered the world and the charts like Queen. Starting in the early seventies and throughout the eighties, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon have written hit after hit. From their first number one single, Bohemian Rhapsody, to their stadium anthems, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions, their music has reigned across the radio airwaves from Great Britain and Europe to the United States an... According to Australia's Herald Sun, Brits have dubbed Queen frontman Freddy Mercury the greatest rock legend of all time in a new survey out today.
Elvis Presley narrowly missed out on the rock n' roll crown coming in second, while Woodstock veteran Jimi Hendrix was hot on his heels in third place.
Other contenders include Brit rockers Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.
The research commissioned to coincide with the launch of Guitar Hero III : Legends of Ro... MORE

Its a great time to be a New England Sports fan
Honestly, we sports fans will brag in coming years of having lived in this era, and having watched Tom Brady play.

My plan here is to write an encomium about each of the bands or artists I've listed as those "you should know about" (I understand this, no doubt wrongly, to mean my favorite bands, and have listed them in descending order of greatness, although towards the end I just throw in bands I know personally and want to say something nice about), one a day, till I get bored or make a fool of myself. The list isn't entirely settled, by the way. The Beatles were an easy choice to... MORE

September 6: Queen, "Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To...) My music taste right now is centered on all things punk. I'm all about cutting the crap and getting to the real meat of a song, without any of the fluff and posturing. Which is why it's hard to imagine that when I was 16, virtually all I listened to was Queen, arguably the biggest breeders of fluff in hard rock history. What drew me to them was the fact that they could mix hard, loud-as-fuck guitar with a cert... MORE

Prince Harry has told a service to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, that she was "the best mother in the world".
"I miss me mum, she used to pat me in the bum. Why can't we just get along... you know?" Family and friends joined Princes William and Harry for the service at Guards' Chapel near Buckingham Palace which was followed by an afterparty at London's Wembley Stadium.
Donning his newly grown Gay Man's Mustache, Prince Harry jo... MORE
