Ipecac Recordings has teamed up with Portland toy company, UNKL, to produce more of those lovable little creatures like the Melvins Qee! Unfortunately, they will not be released in time for Xmas wish lists, however you might want to save some of your Xmas money because these adorable little collectibles will be very limited. The Melvins have announced a jam-packed tour of the US from mid-September to mid-October. They will be screening the new DVD they created with hipster cartoon toy designer Dalek - "Purge of Dissidents" at each show! Big Business will be opening the shows, but first The Melvins play one show with Mudhoney in LA (which will also screen the new DVD). The tour starts on the west coast on September 15th, heads north to PDX and Seattle, back south for a couple Colorado stops,... MORE

I'm really into rock n' roll. And my new favorite rock album is A Senile Animal by Melvins. If you are into rock, you need to check out this album. I think defshep has it up on his multiply page if you have a multiply membership. Catchy lyrics, rockin riffs....this album gets a big thumbs up from me.

Melvins - The Maggot CD new This album is the first in a trilogy released by the melvins (the bootlicker and crybaby to follow). This part shows off the heaviest side of the melvins and is the best heavy album that I have heard in years. Agreeably it will not be for everyone as the Melvins go out of their way to make it as uncomercial as possible, which makes it all the better. I'd heard a lot about Melvins, but I still went in not knowing what to expect. They were louder and heavier than I suspected, most noise coming from the two drummers, who played in perfect sync.... HOW do they do that? It created such.. power and energy, I spent more time in the photo pit staring slack-jawed at them that I did taking photos. They were great, they rocked and everything, but I couldn't help feeling that I'd seen Sideshow Bob, and he was more hardcore tha... MORE

I went to see Big Business and The Melvins. Also opening were Ghostigital and The Men Of Porn. Ghostigital could have been good, but really were not, and Porn was so-so. Big Business were awesome - I think this is the second time I've seen them, the first being in Portland. They're a two piece, they play really heavy songs, and they were really funny between songs. The Melvins were, of course, excellent. They play with Big Business as their bassist and a second drummer... MORE

This year i have seen too few live shows. As a result my once-desensitised hearing has become like an old geezer's, and my social life has not been what it was. Truth is, it's because of an extreme lack of funds, and that depresses me. So far i've only attended shows by Bonzo Dog Band and Red Hot Chili Peppers this year, and Reading Festival.
