When a friend of friend recommended me to "Love Is All," I was a bit hesitant....It's part of my nature to hate sappy EMO-suspect names....But instead, I found myself liking this Swedish post-punk group who recorded their debut in some tiny basement, and their a scratchy, raw sound. So, of my promised Scandinavian posts I'm now gonna post this track from Love Is All (Sweden). I'm sure some of you have heard of Love Is All before, they released this record on a small label called "What's Your Rupture" roughly about this time last year, and I picked a copy up through InSound, which is possibly the best online store for indie and upcoming releases. being a fan of siesta records and indie-pop in general, i had to check this band out. hailing from sweden, love is all is comprised by ex-members of girlfrendo plus mates. i never expected that they will sound this defferent from before. but in a good way.josephine's girly shrieks have been often compared to karen o's vocal styling but apart from the occasional yelp/howl from josephine in the songs, the comparison stops there.this track from their 2006 release, "nine times... Wednesday night, I made the trek up from Richmond with a couple of other music fans and saw the best set that I've seen all year. Period. America, when will you come to your senses and realize that you're crazy about Love Is All? Love Is All was not the headliner for the show (Tilly and the Wall had the top slot on the bill). josephine olausson really cuts the bs with a sharp knife in love is all's hyperactive album, nine times that same song. the music ain't shy to propose that everyday boredom and loneliness is hell's dungen. the quintet bring back post-punk's leading basslines, avoid over-sentimentality (phew!), and step right on the beat. the slow songs bring hives to the thoughtful but, sure, may cause a division of some laura lee from any glen, john or billy joe. jens they take it up to ...
