Shooting began earlier this week for Lil Wayne's theatrical debut in "The Patriots". Weezy will appear alongside the accomplished Oscar winning actor Forrest Whitaker.
"The Patriots is about a basketball team that was assembled of players, who attended five different high schools before Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans. Lil Wayne has been tapped to play a character named “Lamont,” a student of Al Collins High School who is skeptical of the newly forme... MORE

Lil Wayne's new single "Lollipop" moved from number 2 into the top spot after 183,000 downloads last week. This marks the first time Wayne has scored a number one single in his 9 year career. Before Lollipop, the highest he had reached on the charts was number 14 with "Go DJ".
Kanye West also released a freestyle over the Lollipop instrumental this week, if you're interested in hearing that click here.
Update: Kanye is using a vocoder, so if he sounds weired, thats ... MORE

Wayne is following in the footsteps of Nas and choosing a childhood photo as the cover of his new album "The Carter III ". While Nas took a more traditional approach, Wayne's baby picture is digitally altered with tattooed tears and bling.
Is he putting a twist on Nas' concept, or just plain ole biting?... MORE

Lil Wayne revealed details of his upcoming album Carter III to BBC Radio DJ Semtex during an interview this week. According to a report on Billboard.com today, Weezy told Semtex that Kanye contributed to 3 tracks and that Swizz Beatz, Jim Johnson and Deezle also appear.
It took me a minute, but I found video from the interview with Semtex: And, here he is freestylin on Tim Westwood's BBC Radio Show last week:
Big Ups to RWD Mag for the... MORE

Lil Wayne performed in London for the first time last Sunday night. After what happened, I wouldn't be surprised if it was his last London appearance. For starters, the London hip hop scene/grime scene is brutal. Not metalocalypse brutal, but seriously brutal like shootings and violence and such. One would think that a show that costs 25 quid (roughly $50 USD ) that features Lil Wayne and allllll his handlers would be well taken care of. But, according to various report... MORE

Show me my opponent is what Lil wayne has been preaching about for a while. He claims he is close to the best rapper alive....but, is he really??? Many agree and many disagree to the subject. From making mixtapes calling out his so called "opponents" to saying he is the "rapper eater" many say he is on the verge of being the greatest rapper alive.... Ladies and gentlemen, I'm not even a huge Lil' Wayne fan, but this is just a great fuckin' song. I can see Wayne falling into that category of "I don't like him, but I like his music" for me. From the couple interviews I've seen, and the little I know about him, dude just rubs me the wrong way. But, the kid has come a long way. I'll give him that. And the little fucker's got a swagger. Gotta respect that. I even like the video.... MORE

Lil' Wayne is dropping tunes and upping videos - could Carter III actually be on it's way finally? Here's the latest - the new video for "Lollipop": "Lollipop" sounds like a Dirty South take on Rihanna's catchy chorus in "Umbrella-ella -ella": "He's so sweet, I wanna make him my Lolli-lolli-lolli-pop"... You'd be hard pressed to visit any hip hop blog right now and not see a post about this new Lil Wayne condom ad. The man who was heavily criticized for kissing another guy on the lips now appears in a compromising position in the new ad. The "Strapped Condoms" poster shows Lil Wayne bent over a car while grimacing, and a police officer directly behind him. The very fact that this is causing a firestorm of ridicule from fans is proof that homophobia in hip hop is seriously out... MORE

Lil Wayne is hardly ever seen without a styrofoam cup in his hand. The cup contains a mixture of promethazine, codeine, and the soda/juice of Wayne's liking. The concoction is known as "lean", "drank", "purple", "syrup" and a zillion other names throughout the south. In 2007 two southern rappers, Pimp C and Big Moe both died from complications related to drinking this mixture. That has led many people in Wayne's inner circle to pressure him to cut back on abusing the drug. \... MORE

Lil Wayne's highly anticipated album "The Carter III " has been pushed back almost a half dozen times in the last six months. The buzz amongst the fans is there, the material is there, and the record label is dying to release an album, so what exactly is the hold up?
Wayne refuses to stop recording music for the album.
"I make it worse for Universal [Records]," Wayne said Tuesday, sitting on his tour bus. "I keep doing new songs every other day. I don't stop workin... MORE

It seems like Lil Wayne releases everything EXCEPT the album everyone is waiting for. This is a "live" performance of him at the House Of Blues in San Diego. During the first two verses of the song, you don't hear live audio, but rather the studio version. The very last verse is live acapella, you can hear the crowd chanting the words along with him. Wayne's fanbase is crazy, but then again he's had a much longer career than most rappers. It's hard to believe his debut albu... MORE

Lil Wayne sat down with Billboard on his first interview after his felony drug arrest and spoke about his new album. The video for the first single "Lollipop" has already been filmed in Las Vegas, and the song will be serviced to radio shortly. Unfortunately, the firm March 11th release date we got from Universal Records seems a little up in the air now. According to Wayne the album "is expected in March or April".
"It's one of those albums people are rea... MORE

Lil Wayne arrived late to a Richmond, Virginia show this weeekend, fresh off a flight in Arizona where he faces felony drug charges. Between the arrest and some unknown problem within his entourage, he was clearly not a happy man. Weezy gave a crytic rant about "people not being there for him" before taking off his leather jacket, balling it up, and angrily throwing it in the face of his DJ. "I just flew in not even 10 minutes ago. I just had to deal with a whole lo... MORE

Reigning mixtape king Lil Wayne racked up his third arrest yesterday, and is currently being held by the authorities in Yuma County, Arizona. This doesn't appear to be a run of the mill "small quantity of weed" arrest, because it's been confirmed that Weezy (born Dwyane Carter) was arrested by federal drug agents.
"Mr. Carter is in our custody at this time," Yuma County Chief Deputy Major Leon Wilmot told AllHipHop.com. "But the arrest was performed by an... MORE
