Ice Cube will release his 9th major solo album Raw Footage on August 21st. Cube claims that although the original single "Do Ya Thang" is a carefree summer single, the album is very political in nature. Raw Footage will be the second totally independent release by Cube, who loves the freedom of being detached from the "Big four' record distributors. Below you'll find the tracklist and two videos for "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" and "Do ya Thang". 1. What is a Pyroclast... MORE

I dig this new Ice Cube video for "Do Ya Thang."  It's like an updated version of an old school Ice Cube video.  I kept expecting his shiny little sports car to start pumpin up and down...   I also like the smooth and heavy beat.  Good tune for a smoke break. "Do Ya Thang" is off Raw Footage, out August 26th.

Ice Cube & Method Man Weigh In On The "Soulja Boy vs. Ice-T" Debate

Free music video of You Know How We Do It (4)
What started as a semi-annoying "YouTube fight" between Soulja Boy and Ice-T has morphed into a community discussion about hip hop music. Everyone from Kanye, to Snoop Dogg, to Scarface have weighed in. The latest hip hop vets to speak up are Method Man and Ice Cube. Method Man has rather strong feelings on the issue compared to Cube, who takes a level headed diplomatic approach to the situation. Meth says Ice-T shouldn't have attached Soulja Boy the he did in the first p... MORE

Do You Use Music Ringtones On Your Cell Phone?

Artist:
Album:
Track:
Free music video of It Was A Good Day (12)
We're all on MOG because we love music, and just about everyone has a cell phone nowadays, so do you use songs as ringtones? If so, which ones? Up until this year, I had always avoided using music on my phone. I just never wanted to be in a situation where I'm at a funeral or something and all of a sudden "Baby Got Back" started blaring out of my pocket. I eventually succumbed to temptation though.. I currently have "TIt Was A Good Day" by Ice Cube...

HHT: A Lack of originality on my part

Artist:
Album:
Track: We Had To Tear This __________ Up
(14)
So, I looked at my last post and it was a Hip Hop Thursday related post, featuring the beloved Dr. Octagon (Kool Keith). Apparently I am slacking in my posting frequency lately. I need to stop traveling so much. Oh well. For this post I am reaching back a little ways and posting a song that has one of my favorite beats. The bass line and drum beat all but forces me to bob my head and tap the toes. I am sure that's what Ice Cube had in mind when he made the song: a 3... MORE

Blog post image preview This old interview between Ice Cube (with fresh Jheri Curl in tow) and Kurt Loder is great stuff. Although he was quickly becoming a superstar, selling out arenas around the country, and rapped about "Fuck The Police".... he still lived with his parents. At one point during the interview he says "I'm not moving out of my parents house until I'm 21" with the grin of a highschooler (although he was out of school at the time).
In the video interview they don't speak about anyt... MORE

A few months ago Ice Cube expressed interest in working with Nas on his upcoming "controversial" album. Once upon a time in the early 90s, Cube was regarded as one of the fiercest politically charged MC's in rap music. He's intending to revisit his roots on his upcoming album "Raw Footage" and joined forces with Nas on the "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" remix.

This song won't appear on Nas' album, but the two men will likely pair up for another song. "Nas, with the recor... MORE

As Mr. Frost pointed out in January, Ice Cube has a new album on the way and he recently started his own online tv channel called UNTV. Not merely a video channel, UNTV (which stands for U View Network Television) is capable of real-time streams of DVD quality broadcasts. Cube will put the technology to the test this Saturday when he cybercasts his SXSW concert live from Austin. Perhaps he will even play some of the tracks off his new album Raw Footage. The rapper's 9t... MORE

Ice Cube's 9th solo album Raw Footage is currently under construction and due for a release this summer. This will be Cube's second independent album, the first came in 2006 with Laugh Now, Cry Later. His mega success in Hollywood has afforded Cube the luxury of putting out albums on his own time, done his way, without pressures to create radio friendly music.

Here's a new video from westcoast legend Ice Cube called 'Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It'. This is reportedly the first single off of Cube's upcoming album Raw Footage. The video contains a lot of strong imagery and social commentary that made Cube one of the most respected lyricists in the early 90s. Cube highlights some instances in which rap music has been used as a scapegoat, as well as more important issues that are overlooked in the process.

Ice Cube released an album containing all of his movie soundtrack hits last month, so do we finally get another LP of new material? Not a chance. But we do get a new movie however. Much to our excitement, this is not another bad action movie from Cube (XXX, Torque). This fine little ditty here seems to be in the same vein as the Friday series.
First Sunday revolves around Cube attempting to rob a church of $17,000 in order to pay off debts and keep contact with his son. Kat... MORE

Blog post image preview Ice Cube's The Movies will be somewhat of a greatest hits album, except it's comprised of music he's done on the soundtracks of his films. Nevermind the fact that he basically plays the same character in every movie, this is about the music folks! The compilation will be released September 4th and will feature an out of print collaboration titled "Maniac In The Braniac" with Mack 10.

Tracklist 1. "You Can Do It" (feat. Mack 10 & Ms. Toi) - Next Friday2. "We Be ... MORE
