Some people collect stamps or coins or baseball cards...I collect great quotes.
Because I have found that nearly every peak and every valley that I have experienced, and all of the emotions that come with those, someone MUCH smarter than me has encapsulated my thoughts on the subject in a MUCH better way than I ever could. I was scouring the internet for a few more
words to add to my collection and I found this one: 'Follow Your Bliss'

I am so incredibly in love with Gomez. I am going to see them in July and I can't wait. They are playing Mud Island, which I realize might not sound appealing, but actually it's one of my fave venues in town. It's an amphitheatre located on the river and it's just gorgeous when the sun's setting. This is my fave song of theirs: Such a fun video! This is also becoming one of my fave songs: Their music just makes me wish I was sitting on the... MORE

Another in the long line of songs that helped to guide mr through my own personal 'dark ages'....much love to the artists who crafted these tunes...they mean more than you may ever know

I'll be in Chicago for less than 24 hours, but I figured someone else might be going out to the Gomez show on Friday night. We're recording the show and I'd love to hook up with any fellow moggers who might be in the house. Maybe we can grab a drink or something.... MORE

Again, any version of Free to Run is better than 95% of your cd catalog, but thats a fanatic talking. This is the original long version I heard live, which isn't nearly as long as the Black Eyed Dog/Free To Run, but still damn awesome. Maybe the Black Eyed Dog version will be put up another time, but for tonight, enjoy this nugget from the Fillmore in San Francisco. They didn't play Free To Run last time through KC...here's to hoping its added back to the setlist tomor... MORE

Finally just sucked up and paid the extra fee to get my Gomez tickets online. I was going to go to the venue but just didnt have time. I hate that extra fee, but thats for another post. As you can tell, I have a certain special investment in the acoustic version of Gomez's songs. This is always at the top of my favorites from them. I cant remember when or where it was recorded, I'm sure I have it written down somewhere. Although there is some guitar noodling at the ... MORE

So Gomez is coming to town (KC) on Tuesday and in honor of that, here is one of my all time favorites from them. This is a live acoustic version of R&B Alibi and it was the song that absolutely hooked me on them. I have been a fan for a long time and although other bands come and go in my top 5 favorites, these guys have been there forever...I guess going on 10 years now. I will probably post more from them in the coming days so let me know how you like them if you a... MORE

Bring It On is such a fantastic LP. I first heard it my senior year of high school (1999/2000) and was captivated right away. There are so many good songs on this cd. Very experimental as well. The acoustic guitar riffs are addicting. I just recently got back in to this cd after a few years hiatus. I forgot how much I enjoy it.. check it out if you haven't already!... MORE

Let’s do it big! Gomez added two big cities to their winter tour. The Chicago Vic Theatre and New York City Webster Hall will host Gomez for two nights each in the beginning of March. Best to get your tickets early, they sold out three NYC shows and one Chicago show last year. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! I’m looking forward to them playing tracks from their latest release “Five Men In A Hut (A's, B's and Rarities 1998-2004).” Here’s a great review of the album: Go... MORE

So: I have the receiver. But no speakers. Yet. (They're coming on Thursday.) And no CD/DVD player. And certainly no quality cables or headphones.
But I'm makin' do with my old RadioShack cables and Koss headphones, getting funky with Gomez ("Steve McCroski," natch), and somehow managing to kick myself for not getting a better system sooner. And, yeah, MP3s hurt my ears. Sad but true. That's all for now. I'll be getting back to more meaningful ... MORE
