Everybody knows "Cars", but Gary Numan also had a #1 hit with "Are Friends Electric" from 1979. The track has a thick analog sound and alien feel, but it's just as catchy as "Cars". The video attached is a homemade one I found on YouTube, but the sound quality is really good and the song is unedited, plus the guy did a pretty good job (there was no "official" video for "Friends"). Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric" - another essential 80's track!

It's all electronic and steel and european sounding, not unlike the Chemical Brothers _Surrender_. I like the way the English approach their music in contrast to the Americans.

I figured it was about time to post something lest this becomes an abandoned mog/blog slice out of July/August 2006. Those mtv dvds got me going on pulling out some fairly old vinyls. It's been so long since I've pulled these out I forgot how good they were.
