Figurines have caught my attention lately. They put out a disc last year called "Skeleton" that had some good tracks. One of my favorites is called "Ambush" I've heard people say they sound like The Decemberists, and I can see that. When Christian Hjelm (lead vocals) isn't using his quirky voice he sounds really good, and with this tune, I think they sound great. It's a rocking and jumpy number that doesn't personify that image.

Danish indie rock act Figurines is crossing the Atlantic for a fall tour that kicks off on October 11th in Seattle. After the tour, in support of this week's release When The Deer Wore Blue (we didn't know there were deer in Denmark), winds its way across the Continental Divide, the band will wrap things off with a two-night stint at NYC's Mercury Lounge. first off, i don't like to post negatively about any one band. however, my inspiration for this mog came from an ardent dislike of a band that i _should_ like but don't. i don't have love for the decemberists. i have listened but cannot get passed colin meloy's voice. which leads me to the figurines. similar sound to the decemberist's, but, i think, better.
