The ANSWER Coalition responds to Pres. Bush
on the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war
President Bush says the war on Iraq was "worth it," in spite of the "loss of life and treasure." So speaks a man who has unflinchingly destroyed human life and caused suffering on a massive and criminal scale. Iraq was "at peace" when Bush ordered a war of aggression aimed at toppling a sovereign government. One out of every three Iraqis is now either killed, wounded, or a refu... MORE

If you are a fan of Eddie Vedder's solo work, more recently his score for the Sean Penn-directed film Into the Wild, then you'll want a ticket for Vedder's mini tour this spring. Vedder, sans Pearl Jam, will head out on the road with his acoustic guitar for stops along the west coast this April. The tour starts in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 2nd and caps off April 15th in San Diego. New Zealand singer-songwriter Liam Finn will open for Vedder. We're pretty sure Vedde... MORE

If Three 6 Mafia can be called "an Academy Award award-winning American hip hop" group, why in the world are neither Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder or Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood nominated for an 2008 Oscar?
The nominees for the 80th annual Academy Awards aka Oscars were announced Tuesday morning. And despite the fact that Eddie Vedder's original track "Guaranteed" for the Sean Penn-directed flick Into The Wild won a Golden Globe last week, Vedder's name was left off the Oscar... MORE

Despite the fact that we couldn't see him all dapper in an Armani suit, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder received his first Golden Globe ever for his music work in Into The Wild. Vedder's track "Gauranteed" won for Best Original Song in the Sean Penn-directed flick.
Vedder was also up for a Globe in the Best Original Score category, but lost to Atonement composer Dario Marianelli.
The 65th Golden Globes did not hold it... MORE

For those who loved Pearl Jam at various times during their mercurial musical career - Eddie Vedder's solo effort, rife with allusions to his work with Neil Young, replete with a beautiful the simple sound heard at times beginning with No Code, with his distinct vibrato is brilliant in my opinion. I am usually "last to the party" but I happened to see Into the Wild and thought the soundtrack sounded okay and then on second listening, Vedder has found his way back onto my iPod... MORE

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will have to duke it out, along with his fellow composers Kaki King and Michael Brook for the Best Original Score in a Motion Picture Golden Globe. The trio are behind the music to Sean Penn's adapted film Into The Wild. Vedder is also up for the Best Original Song in a Motion Picture Golden Globe for the film's track "Guaranteed." In the latter category he is up against some tough hitters - Shakira, Clint Eastwood, and funny guys John C. Reill... MORE

Eddie Vedder has the soundtrack bug. He recently released the OST for Sean Penn's movie, Into The Wild, and news is breaking today that Vedder signed up to handle a new soundtrack. Vedder will work with RnB singer John Legend to organize musical accompaniment for a new documentary mini-series about America. The documentary is based on the incredible book, "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn and his companion book, co-authored by Anthony Arnove, "Voic... MORE

Transcendent, beautiful, tragic and joyful. All at once. Like life. When I read the book Into The Wild, by Jon Krakauer, I was prepared to think poorly of the young man who journeyed to Alaska alone, only to die tragically-- you know, what a fool, traveling alone, no map or compass, minimal food, with an attitude of "gonna live off the land and set my soul free." A dangerous naivete. But then he lives there for 100 days or so, before succumbing to starvation because h... MORE

There are rumors that Pearl Jam frontman will go on tour to play "small gigs" to support his work on the soundtrack of the film "Into The Wild".
As previous reported, Eddie Vedder contributed a few songs for the soundtrack. The film, directed by Sean Penn, is based on a book recounting the true story of Chris McCandless.
(SPOILER WARNING )McCandless cut ties with his family, gave all his money to charity and set out to live in the Alaskan wilderness, only to be found... MORE

I was able to get my hands on the upcoming soundtrack to Sean Penn's new moive, 'Into The Wild'....with basically serves as the first Eddie Vedder solo record...he wrote all 11 songs specifically for the film. And , in the interest of full disclosure, I am a HUGE Pearl Jam fan...but this record is amazing...it will be on repeat here for the foreseeable future. I only wish it were longer... MORE
