The song I uploaded is called SNOWDEN... and is right in their wheelhouse... majestic guitars and choruses from their third album, "Some Cities." . . . . Pretty cool video... Today was the first really grey day where I felt a definite fall chill in the air. Times like these always conjure up distinct feelings and memories for me. So I've been stealing music off my brother again, he's so conveniently left his CD collection at home so I nip up there every couple of months and try something new out. This time I stole his remaining Radiohead albums, two Doves albums and that old band Lo-Tel, see if they ahd anything other than 'Teenager of the Year' to their name [sadly no, didn't do it for me]. Although Marissa died, her mix cd she made for Ryan still lives on. The OC: Mix 1 is one of the best compliation albums ever put together in my opinion. Every song stands out, there are no fillers. Although I bought it 4 years ago, it's still the most played album on my iPod. The Dove's "Caught by the River" and Finley Quaye's "Dice" are the highlights of the album. It's defintally a must listen album.

My favorite ever music video. A graceful and thought-provoking film that re-imagines the council estate (or if you're American, the Projects) as a prison. Sadly, as implied by the heart-thumpingly emotive song, that's not such a great leap to make. isnt it weird how sometimes you can listen to an album numours times before you fall in love with it? for me a couple artists that i consider an "aquired taste" where Tool, A Perfect Circle, Doves, (dare i say it wasnt love at first sight) Bob Dylan...

Any one heard of Doves!? They've released three albums and i can't believe i'm only just discovering them. The band apparently began in the early nineties in manchester when they made house music under the name Sub Sub. I am still yet to find any recordings of that stuff. I read some where that it all turned around when oneday when thier studio burnt down and all thier work was lost. So they decided to start again with a new idea. I have the Some Cities album and love it, and particulary love the drumbeat in "Walk in Fire" and sing it all day. I've never looked them up on line (and I could, but why not Mog-It) and I can't remember who gave me the album. Do you know about them?
