Dire Straits were a British rock band, formed in 1977 by Mark Knopfler (guitar and vocals), his brother David Knopfler (guitar), John Illsley (bass), and Pick Withers (drums), and managed by Ed Bicknell. I'm really annoyed now. I just wrote a post, uploaded a song and mog CRASHED . The post and song vanished. ARGH !! I DON 'T HAVE ALL DAY FOR THIS . AGAIN :
This is about "On Every Street", one of my favorite Dire Straits tunes. Not in the favorites list for DS; and no link to the song appears on the Album page. So I decided to post it myself, and make it my song of the week.

I haven't had any time to dig MOG 's new features because the re-launch of my favorite site coincided with the crunch time for a very important event taking place today in Raleigh, NC: Mothers Against Drunk Driving's Second Annual Strides for Change 5K fundraising walk, sponsored by my law firm. It seems MTV plans to take back the planets young from places such as Myspace and Youtube by starting a whole host of websites designed to restore the 'youth culture' tag once worn by the network. It's planned websites will allow its users to watch, contribute and even re-edit MTV programs amongst other things. I recently had my cable company do a little upgrading to my service. One of the big improvements that they promised was the fact that I would have four different MTV stations. I laughed when I read that it would be an improvement, but I thought I would wait and see what MTV had to offer. So, here it is the day of the change and I get MTV , MTV 2, MTV 3 , and MTV Latino. And so, On XM Fine Tuning, which plays classical stuff alongside progressive rock, alongside the Duhks, I hear the song, "Telegraph Road."
[This song is one of my favorite Dire Straits tunes for a few reasons. I'm a sucker for a slow tune that builds into a rocking tune by the end. It clocks in at 15 minutes without an outrageous drum solo. Hell, they must be talking about something dramatic, right?]
