My body sort of aches when I lie down. It isn't enough to complain about, I'm sure. I've known people who've been through more in their lifetimes. Getting a metal bar in your chest is probably not the most enjoyable thing to go through in your teenage years. It's good to have friends like that. People who have some sort of uncommon thing like Marfan's syndrome. You tell yourself having extreme skin conditions and dysthimia isn't that cool. The dysthimia isn't causing th... MORE

Blog post image preview Deerhunter were robbed at gunpoint in their hometown Atlanta on Friday, July 29th. Frontman Bradford Cox and guitarist Lockett Pundt were both accosted by gunmen following their show at Lenny's. According to the band's MySpace page: "We got a friendly homecoming surprise last night in Atlanta when Lockett and I got robbed at gunpoint after our show at Lenny's last night. We literally had just walked off the stage and I was pretty wasted. "I heard a commotion behind ... MORE

Blog post image preview It appears, dear reader, that I have a thing for spacey, psychedelic, trip-rock (I made that one up!) at the moment as I can't seem to stop listening to bands who get off on making their guitars sound like space ships. This probably stems from my affinity for guitar effects on my own ax that make it sound like a space ship when I'm playing in the dark in my room imagining I'm in an arena playing for 50,000 people, or it could have something to do with my mother, I don't kn... Blog post image preview I have to say, I was very impressed with my first Deerhunter show at the Pitchfork Music Festival, presented at Union Park in downtown Chicago on July 13-15. I made sure to come early on Sunday as they were the first band to play. They really started my day off GREAT, with killer versions of Lake Somerset, Octet, Spring Hell Convert, and Hazel St. to name a few. The only bad thing...they had only a 30-minute slot! What a bummer! I look forward to more music from the... MORE

Another Saturday night, and another night that I've elected to stay indoors. I would have gone out, but the lurgy I've managed to kick has still left me feeling a bit cack. Not cack in the sense of ill, more cack in the sense of tired. That could also be age, but I'll whinge about that again once I reach an age worth whinging about. In any case, what with it being so late, my beloved has declared it too late either for the Paperclip People, or the Detroity goodness of Sh... MORE

For the second time in as many weeks, I ended up at a show that was quite a bit more bizarre than I had anticipated. But as Perry Farrell once wrote "Nothing's Shocking". Okay, so maybe it wasn't shocking, but a little surprising? Yes. Just a little.
