Today, let's be grateful for things we weren't aware we wanted: I didn't know I needed a city that gets cold in a hurry; I couldn't forsee the fortifying powers of loss. You wouldn't have convinced me, with words, that I'd need Eric Bachmann and Neko Case smiling under new wave synth. But here we are.
There's dancey Springsteen in here, my god, there's Susanna Hoff in here; it's like pop-ivy creeping up the twin pillars of haunted banjo angst.

A much bigger-sounding undertaking for Eric Bachmann (ex-front for Archers of Loaf) is evidenced completely in this, the first track released from the new LP from Crooked Fingers, Forfeit/Fortune, set for release October 7. Rather than recording the album live...

Former Archers Of Loaf singer Eric Bachmann follows up his excellent 2006 solo album To The Races with another Crooked Fingers album on October 7th. Marking the band's fifth LP and entitled Forfeit/Fortune , the album was produced by Mark Nevers and Alex McManus, whose collective credits include Andrew Bird, Lambchop, Silver Jews, and Bright Eyes. The album marks a bit of a deviation in its recording process. While 2005's Dignity & Shame was recorded live, F... MORE

The layered instrumentation that has increasingly characterized Eric Bachmann's Crooked Fingers continues with the new single "Phony Revolutions" from the impending Forfeit/Fortune. Equaling the tempo and fervor of Red Devil Dawn's "You Through a Spark" or "Andalucia" on Dignity and Shame, the song opens with a resounding floor tom, resonating piano and generally serpentine horns. Add shakers,

I’ve been waiting for a long time for the new Crooked Fingers album. Honestly, Eric Bachmann can do little wrong in my mind and ever since I heard he was self-releasing his new record, I've been on pins and needles. His last solo effort, To the Races , still manages to find it’s way to the top of my listening pile, with his Archers of Loaf and Crooked Fingers back catalog following close behind like a pack of pitchfork wielding villagers.

Signing off...but I had to put up one more song. A great cover of the Neil Diamond classic 'Solitary Man' by Crooked Fingers...and good night
Tonight's good night kiss is courtesy of one of my favorite bands, Crooked Fingers(by way of Freddie Mercury)
I love this version because when I hear it I don't automatically start rapping out the lyrics to 'Ice Ice Baby'....damn that Vanilla Ice...damn him to hell for ruining such an amazing tune.
We shall overcome....just by listening to this we have elevated ourselves, Good luck on your Mondays everyone...
Not a new song, or even a new sound, really, but I heard it a month or two ago and kinda liked it, mostly for the clever chorus (oh yeah, and it rhymes a bit).
'Crooked Fingers' doing a great version of the Vanilla Ice...er, i mean Queen/David Bowie classic...
Let me tell you a little something about one of my current favorites. "New Drink For An Old Drunk" from Crooked Fingers. The first time I heard this song I was blown away with the powerful vocals that sound like they are coming from the "old drunk" himself. A voice that sounds like it carries with it many a bottle of whiskey and many a pack of cigarettes. Anyway, if you've never checked out this Seattle band you should stop what you're doing and go...go now.
I haven't heard much about them on 'the mog'....any other fans out here?
Dignity and Shame is my favorite Crooked Fingers record. I also love their covers EP 'Resevoir Songs'
Crooked Fingers Initiation Set
1) Call To Love
2) When U Were Mine (Prince cover)
3) Under Pressure (Queen/Bowie cover)
Listen to ^ these^ and you will be hooked...
And i didnt't find anything ON DEMAND worth watching, So before I call it a night I will share one of my favorite falling out of love songs...in the name of this stupid made up holiday!!
Its Crooked Fingers take on an old Prince tune...and in this case, I actually like the cover version better.

Photo by Gary Isaacs Two of Denver's best bands, the Crooked Fingers and Devotchka, are kind enough to journey southwest to Tucson, where they'll play a double bill Feb. 6 at the Rialto Theatre. And since both bands seem to have a soft spot for the Ol' Pueblo, this is one hell of a promising show. Eric Bachmann's Crooked Fingers have been a favorite of mine for years, and they put on a stunning
