Coldplay are an English rock band from London. Formed in 1998, Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with their 2000 single "Yellow", followed by the success of their debut album, Parachutes. You'd think Coldplay would spend the summer in Europe like most bands, enjoying stops along the French Riviera, because they have the dough to yacht it up in Cannes. Giving away free music is addicting for Coldplay. Last week Coldplay successfully released their first single "Violet Hill" as a free MP3 via their Web site and some 2 million people downloaded the track. (Even Coldplay is surprised at the number, I'm sure).
Now the band are giving away their next single "A Spell A Rebel Yell," which sorta rips off U2 "Mothers of the Disappeared." The band is pulling a Prince, who last July released his latest album Planet Eart... MORE

tonight i saw American Beauty. i dont know if i really understand more of the world, but i know that i feel wiser; content. i also had a great conversation with someone i felt like i could never speak so openly with. i felt relief, maybe only cause i could put into words how the mood was and how i was. but yeah Coldplay was in the background and it felt really right. im probably a sentimental idiot.... I like Coldplay, and I don't care who knows it.
People tell me I shouldn't, they tell me they're Radiohead-lite for teenage girls, their lyrics are terrible, Chris Martin is a pretentious, prepubescent prick. And I just don't care.

Yesterday news hit that Coldplay were giving out a free MP3 of their first Viva La Vida single, "Violet Hill." So today I ventured into the inter-space to download the track via the Band's Web site.
After being asked for my email, zip code and country of origin I was told to check my inbox for a link to the download. I ran into minor technical difficulties. The link kept demanding a password and user name to access the download. WTF ? After cutting and pasting the giv... MORE

Do Coldplay have the balls to release their new album Viva La Vida pro bono, like their fellow Brits Radiohead? No. But Chris Martin and Co. are doing their best to keep fans happy while bringing the bread home by treating the world's internet users with a free MP3 of the album's first single "Violet Hill." Had a cool weekend away 'chillin' but unfortunatly back to work and running low on time again Rhythms del mundo feat Coldplay - Clocks Wonder if its something on these lines that we can expect from the NEW (?) Coldplay album - if it ever gets released

Coldplay have topped a poll to find the band most people want to feel asleep to.
The four-piece finished ahead James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones in a survey carried out by Travelodge.
"The research shows that we are increasingly relying on slow, sleepy music and challenging books to take our minds off the pressures of modern living, to help us switch off and get to sleep at night", said Travelodge spokesperson Leigh McCarron.

Coldplay have pulled a fast one, calling their new album Viva La Vida, or Death and All His Friends. Many had believed that the follow-up to 2005's X&Y would be called Prospect, taken from the signature of the band's news updates via their Web site.
