Waiting in line at a show, waiting for the gates to open it is not uncommon to hear a cacophony of accents and languages. Some more than others. When I was a kid, I liked to see pictures of people in the past congregating to hear news as a community. Maybe the telegraph office would get reports on the ball game and post the scores where everyone could see, things like that.
