Madison, WI will host the first ever Forward Music Festival this year when multiple events take place at different venues September 19-20. The lineup includes Neko Case, Bob Mould, Dan Deacon, Monotonix, Thao With the Get Down Stay Down and many more, including a gaggle of local bands. But it's the reunion of Kildozer that causing most of the excitement. According to a pitchf*#k report:
Leading the lineup is a reunion by hometown Touch & Go heroes Killdozer, who ha... MORE
It sure is. A random geocities page I found has a list of 10 ways they may actually be the same person. They are pretty convincing...

The singer for a recently-formed rock band in San Francisco, with whom I have developed a relationship of mutual friendliness and respect over the last several months, sent me an electronic verbal message of some sort - on AOL they used to be called "instant messages"; I don't know if facebook uses the same terminology - a few weeks ago, asking if I could suggest a good band name. I let fly five or six possibilities off the top of my head, but I realized that the last on... MORE
Note from JM: I've added, by request, a brief paragraph on some of the lyrics on this album, and my impressions thereof. I'm still not happy with this piece – but it'll do. Once again, the amendments are about two days later than planned. There's a lesson here, but I don't know what it is. Just fyi in case anyone hasn't heard:
Bob Mould has come out with a new album and is going to tour in March. Not in Michigan though :(
Anyway, you can listen to the whole thing (legally and free) online before you buy here.
I'm partway through my first listen and will reserve judgment for later.
I'm sure you know that Bob Mould once fronted Husker Du and later Sugar. Husker Du recorded one of the great epic albums of all time, Zen Arcade. Anyway, Mould is back with a new solo album, District Line, due Feb. 2 on Anti-, the label that Tom Waits and Nick Cave and my fave singer/songwriter Jolie Holland all record for, and this preview suggests that the album is gonna be a winner.

Bob Mould - the Husker Du and Sugar pioneer - is preparing the release of his seventh solo album, 'District Line.' After last year's danc... MORE
A hair-raisingly emotional, undeniably catchy, loud, mature guitar rock album, bolstered by the ace drumming of Fugazi’s Brendan Canty, Mould’s forthcoming disc affirms he is more relevant than ever. From the achingly honest and instantly memorable opening track, "Stupid Now" and the gorgeou... MORE
