So I received an email from the mogfather, David Hyman, and it had me thinking about the reservations I had before striking. For the record, I was in no way asked to do this.

As previously mentioned, the deluxe release of this cd contains two versions of the album; one with the band and one done solo
I prefer the intimacy of the solo versions
A little shout out to runobodyii as it was his theme that resulted in this post

Tonight, Australia Day 2008, Billy Bragg made a number of points. One of them was something that happened to him after he had left the SXSW Festival in Austin and headed to Minneapolis. Yeah, well the title of this post says it all. This is a job for a three-armed contortionist with X-ray vision.
So while I do that give Billy Bragg a listen. Rearraging motown tunes for the shit-kicker crowd is nothing new, but when its done well.....well, I like it anyway.
Billy Bragg is one of the greatest songwriters to come out of the U.K in the last 20 or so years, this song is taken from the album Workers Playtime produced by Joe Boyd who worked with Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Fairport Convention, Shirley Collins, Vashti Bunyan, etc. What can I say with lyrics like: "I long to let my heart run freebut here i am a victim of geography" Although he is famed for his militant stance and politicising, this is just a wonderful love song....
