Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell, July 8, 1970) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, known by his simple stage name of Beck. So the Internet has been a buzz with word that Beck is releasing a new album he worked on with producer Danger Mouse, aka the fro-top of Gnarls Barkley. Yeah, it's great news and all, but with all this NIN , Radiohead and Coldplay free tunes business as of late...simply the fact that Beck's whipping out this album this summer doesn't get my little heart pounding like the word...FREE.

Danger Mouse has hit up everyone in the music world -- the Beatles, Jay-Z, Ike Turner, the Rapture, the Black Keys, Sparklehorse, the Good, the Bad & the Queen.
Now the uber-producer is helping Beck with tracks on his next album and follow-up to 2006's The Information, according to Harp.

Beck fans who ran out and purchased one of the new Odelay reissues might be socially ostracized in the future. That is, if you have been memorizing the lyrics in the liner notes. It turns out that the production people inserted lyrics they found on the web as "placeholders" that were supposed to be swapped out for authorized lyrics before going to print. Only, they never got replaced. If this makes the first pressing of the reissue more valuable, then it won't matter what... MORE

I'm not normally a huge Beck fan...I fall into what is probably a pretty small camp of folk that think he's a bit overrated. BUUUUUT ...this is one of my all time favorite songs. With the bad luck I've had in past relationships,
"I think I'm in love,

Beck's major label debut Mellow Gold introduced his eccentric sound to the masses in 1994, but it was his sophomore release, Odelay that would lead the alt.rock genre in a new direction. Originally released in 1996, the Grammy-winning Geffen honors Odelay 12 years later with a deluxe re-issue on January 29, 2008. 2Beck puts out great music. For Beck, being an artist isn't about making it to the top of the billboard charts or getting airplay. Beck plays whatever type of music he wants. He doesn't follow "formulas" to get to more mainstream success, he plays whatever he feels like on any given day. And it's always so darn good.

Beck has apparently given iTunes a week-long exclusive on his new single, 'Timebomb.' At the moment it's just the one track without b-sides or remixes and all the other clutter. This one I bought because I don't want the jack-booted music cops from the RIAA or Universal Records kicking down the Moose HQ doors...on first listen it doesn't sound like much, distinctly Beckian of course but not that compelling. Maybe it'll grow on me. Any way you can ... MORE

Beck is surfacing a new track without an album. The self-produced tune, "Timebomb" will be out next week (August 21st) via iTunes and via all other digital media outlets the following week.
This is the first in new material from Beck since 2006's The Information. And according to the press release, "Beck currently has no plans for other releases, full album or otherwise."... MORE
