Man, I can't believe AOL's 'Ickey Mettle' album came out 14yrs ago! Time flies when you are rocking out I guess.
I think the SECOND I heard this tune on the Mallrats soundtrack I ran to my local record store(remember those places? You could go in and actually buy records and stuff) and bought this LP.
So hit the red button and forget your troubles for 2 minutes and 6 seconds.

Fact: Icky Mettle is horribly under-appreciated. Archers of Loaf can easily be lumped in with Pavement and other such early 90's bands within the indie and alternative rock genre so it's no wonder why this album is so overlooked. It's a solid record with catchy songs that include quirky and amusing lyrics. Notable tracks include "Web in Front" - which is one of the best openers I've ever heard - "Wrong", "Might", "Plumb Line" and "Toast". Road trip essential.

I really miss these guys. Eric Bachmann's current band Crooked Fingers is also very good, mellower vibe, but still the same earnest intensity.

Since I have to drive my wife's car on Friday (long story), I ended up listening to one of my old tapes from when I had no CD player in my old car. I listened to Archers of Loaf - White Trash Heroes. If anyone asked me which Archers of Loaf album to listen to, this would be it. I'm not so impressed with their other albums. This was the masterpiece and is definitely in my top albums of all time.
