Alice In Chains, having not released a full length studio album of original material since 1995's self titled album, are working hard in the studio to have the record done by the end of 2008. Although the band did record a few songs that were released on their box set Music Bank in 1999, "Alice In Chains" was the final album with original vocalist Layne Staley, who died of a drug overdose in 2002. The band has since reunited with new vocalist, William DuVall who toured wit... MORE
I'm horrible at lyrics. Most other music lovers I know can rattle the lyrics of their favorites off with no problem. I am relegated to singing two words and then humming. On my all-time favorites, like Alice In Chains "Nutshell", I play them enough that the words enter my brain...sometimes in error. But as for "Nutshell", I like what my brain heard as the first line: "We chase Miss Pretty Lies". It kind of fits the rest of the song, but its also ironic in that the f... MORE
the lovely and wonderful Katrina posted some A.I.C. i did not have

I'm not much of a fan of some of the unreleased AIC material (demos and such that were included in the Music Bank collection), but this song happens to rock a lot.
This video is set to clips from Reqieum For A Dream (the editing and selection of scenes is not very good in my opinion, but oh well).
The boys put on a great show last night. I was worried beforehand that I would be leaving with negative thoughts and missing Layne but I'm so glad I went now. William DuVall handled his vocal duties well and the harmonies that AIC are so noted for came off great between him, Jerry and the others. Similar to the MTV Unplugged video they all walked out separately as the first track was starting and as they came out they raised a glass to the audience. Jerry, Mike and Willi... MORE
Acute viral nasopharyngitis, also known as the common cold. What a bitch! I _could_ go home from work, but that will diminish my concert vacation time. Then again, I really feel like garbage. Moggers - any tried-and-true treatments for this nasty ailment?
Saw the above mentioned bands on Friday night. It was pretty awesome. The venue was a place called The Pavilion, an amplitheater in The Woodlands, which is basically a northern suburb of Houston. It was a pretty quick drive to get there, or atleast it seemed like it for an hour a half. Lots of really tall East Texas pines trees to look at on the way. When we got to The Woodlands, we weren't really sure if we were there or not, because all of the buildings and houses ar... MORE
I just picked up some tickets for the 15th row at next month's Alice In Chains show here in Asheville and the wife got Foo Fighters tickets for Oct. 5th. Awesome!
Steve and I went to see Alice in Chains and Velvet Revolver at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix this past Tuesday. Counting Austin City Limits, this was our sixth day in a row of live music. The venue didn't sell out (Smashing Pumpkins was also in town that night), so our lawn seats were upgraded to 300 level seating. We were happy to have seats, as we were running low on energy.
As the opener, Alice in Chains came out and played about an hour of greatest hits type songs. No... MORE

I thought about this song a few times today. Once as I was reading about Owen Wilson's reported suicide attempt, and his battle against drug addiction. It's so true, those demons of depression and addiction do NOT discriminate. Then as the song ended, then started over my mind wandered to MOG's own brush with those demons. It wasn't THAT long ago thatJensen took his own life. He has a lot to do with making this a community, and I am sure that I wouldn't have met many of ... MORE
The sound is bad so turn it up. Plus this a first for me since my TV broke in the front room. Don't want to bug the misses during her puter' office time lol...
;)
Just bought tickets for the Velvet Revolver/Alice In Chains show on Sep. 28 in The Woodlands, TX (basically Houston more or less). Pretty pumped up about it. The tickets were pretty expensive so we had to get lawn seats, but it's still gonna be awesome. Velvet Revolver will be cool, but the main reason I'm going of course is to see AIC (you know that they would be the headlining act and VR would be supporting if Layne were still alive). I know this is obviously not the o... MORE
This one takes me back a few years. Yes- I am one of those guys that bought into the grunge movement in a big way back in the 90's. I was realizing the other day, that I sometimes listen to old Nirvana or Soundgarden and I still like Pearl Jam after all these years- but I haven't really gone back and listened to a lot of Alice in Chains in a while. So I waded through my collection a bit and pulled out this gem. It is such a plain and simplistic song but it always gripped... MORE
