The Last Temptation Of Chris

Posted about 4 years ago
As part of Squeeze Chris Difford, along with Glen Tilbrook, wrote some classic songs. He's one of those songwriters that England seems to excel at producing - strong melodies and smart lyrics that illuminate the small details of life. Alcoholic parents (Broken Family), the ever expanding belly of middle age (Fat As A Fiddle) and a raft of funny, tragic broken characters populate the album which really is as strong as any produced by Squeeze. The music has a country twang, it kind of reminded me of the last couple of Nick Lowe records and that as far as I am concerned is a great compliment! Here's the video for Fat As A Fiddle.

  2. dermahrk says That's very interesting. I'm a huge Squeeze fan, but must admit that any numbers sung solo by Chris got deleted from the iPod. So of course I displayed no interest in him when solo, instead going with Glenn Tillbrook. But I really like this. It sounds great. Hmmmm...
