as you may be able to tell by my music collection, i'm quite a fan of the danzig-era original misfits. the lyrics are awfully blunt, inappropriate, and comical. this can best be summed up with the opening line of the song "last caress."

problem is, they don't have as many songs as a diehard fan would desire, since glenn eventually moved on to samhain and danzig, which both have a more serious tone to their horror themes.
luckily for misfits fans, they have multiple versions of the same old songs (like disk 3 of the box set, which is comprised entirely of alternate recordings of classic songs.)
when that's not enough to satiate your lust for misfits music, you can always turn to bootlegged concerts. i'm lucky, at the young age of 23 years old, to have discovered this band in the internet age, where "rare recordings" are relatively easy to acquire. case in point, onethirtyeight.com.
to be honest, my favorite misfits fan site, and go-to source for quick information, is misfitscentral.com, which has everything you could possibly want to know about the original misfits, the new misfits, samhain, danzig, and any other associated act... but one thing that onethirtyeight.com has, that misfits central does not, is a nice collection of bootleg recordings from various concerts.
here's the link, if you're interested: http://www.onethirtyeight.com/audio.html
the upsides: hearing glenn interact with the crowd, more content for your ears, and some of the recordings are actually on par with evilive, if not better.
the downsides: some of them are just brutal quality, and almost unlistenable... and they're in real audio format, which, imo, is just a bitch to deal with.
but if you're really into this band, this genre, or things that are awesome, then i'd recommend you give a couple of them a try. it gives you a glimpse of one the most influential bands there ever was, since most of us weren't there to enjoy it the first time around. (hell, i wasn't even born until 1984... a few days before samhain played it's first live show.)
