MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

LOL...
Timbaland has had the best album of 2007 to me but geez, how about a little humility?

In a recent interview, Timbaland said he's about to call it quits and “about to throw in the towel” because he's “too innovative” for the music industry. According to Gigwise, Timbaland will leave the music business as soon as he finds a suitable successor to pass his knowledge down to.
“Music is boring right now. I'm too innovative for the world. I've been doing it so long, I'm about to throw in the towel, I'm about to de-crown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me. They won't be able to be me - there's only one Timbaland - but there's a certain sound that I try to teach."
Timbaland has crafted hits for Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Nelly Furtado, and Justin Timberlake.

Okay, yeah, he sounds like he's full of himself. But, he is arguably the best producer in music right now. And I'd be a bit perturbed if I was making great tracks for today's second and third rate acts. But, this isn't the first time we've heard the retirement song from Timbo. Let's hope something makes him stick to the boards. I can't think of anybody that could take his place right now.

Hmmmm, I don't know Troy P, don't you think it has more to do with his money - power, contacts notoriety and resources that make him so good and stand out from the rest!!!! You can't tell me there isn't untold young producers making beats and tunes in their bedrooms that are outta this world but don't have the opportunities he has....???

Well, I'm sure there are plenty of talented, undiscovered producers, rappers, basketball players in the world. Is one of them better than Timbaland? Possibly. Is one of them better than Jay-Z, Michael Jordan? Could be. We won't know until that person is discovered. For now, I can tell you that Timbaland is the best doin' it, in my opinion. As far as opportunities...you make your own opportunities. Nobody gave Tim anything. He's paid his dues. He's got over a decade in the game. He's made a serious impact on not only hip-hop, but music as a whole. And no amount of money, power, or contacts is gonna put together a great drum track for you.
