MOG MOG

WHERE E=MC HAMMER

Although her debut album wasn't released until after the new millenium an shes only 27 years old.... .Alicia Keys is already talking retirement. In her post-recording career Alicia plans to venture deeper into the world of acting as well as seeing what the world has to offer.

"I am working hard now so I have the choice to retire when I want. I would like to travel the world and stay in places instead of having to move on like I do now. I want to experience difference cultures."

Alicia took a brief sabbatical to Egypt not too long before the release of her last album "As I Am", which was prompted by mounting pressures.

I have my doubts that someone as talented as Alicia Keys will walk away from music at such a young age, it's probably just the exhaustion talking (she IS on tour afterall) ... but we'll see.

Idolator

I'm so tired of people saying their thinking about retirement.  One, it makes me sick to think of a 27 y.o. with overwhelming talent retiring from a world of decadence, frivolity, and mediocre creativity.  Two, I'm just plain jealous.

lol @ just being plain jealous, I am soo not mad at you.

but honestly I dont blame her, we work so hard to fit in small vacations here and there, imagine finally being able to do what you want, go where you want, just experience life, I mean really experience it.

it makes sense to me.

i hear you; i kinda get it in my head, that these people ARE going where they want and experiencing life.  in terms of travel, they get to see places i've only dreamed about; but I guess it's like she said... wants to be able to chill instead of jettin off to the next location.

to retire right now, AND be able to travel the world... i definitely see the advantages.  still jealous, though

awwwww hugs trust and believe that Im ever so jealous as well. As a single mom I have worked myself like a slave (didnt they set our people free??) lol so I fully can appreciate and understand her thought process in doing so, I cant imagine how hectic a tour must be, how seeing city after city without really "seeing" it.

I can only accept the fact that shes blessed in a way that we arent, but in my heart I believe that there must be some ways we are blessed that she isnt, life is all about balance.......

This may sound weird, but as talented as she is and as much as she has influenced the world, she really does have a responsibility now.. some of you may not agree to this, but to have the music world thrive, we need artists like Alicia to mentor other kids, create organizations, etc. Just like Prince took her under his wing and made a point to make her known to the world.. she should return the favor.

Just my two cents.

Ironically, the music business is one that is capable of stripping an artist of their creativity. I completely relate to Ms. Keys desire to retire although, I sense that it's temporary, and based on frustrating experiences. Regardless, allow a girl do what she wants, otherwise she'll be far more dramatic in the future.

Fans control the music business but not the actual artist.
