Following the sad tradition of former Idols Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, and Kat McPhee, American Idol runner up Blake Lewis just got canned from his label. It's not that surprising Arista dumped him, but this firing comes particularly fast compared to the others. The beat boxing ex-Idol claimed he never wanted to be signed to a major label anyways, but isn't that what everyone says when they're publicly tossed to the side?
Do you think this is a sign that American Idol is circling the drain? Or does it simply mean the struggles of the modern day recording industry takes no prisoners?
In tribute to this moment I present "Another One Bites The Dust" By Queen
SING IT FREDDY.. SING IT.

My Trusted MOGs
I am not a regular viewer of American Idol although it seems everyone else on the planet is...as a semi retired singer/songwriter my family thinks it should be favorite show, along with Don't Forget The Lyrics ( never seen it)And the problem I have is this: How many great performers would make it by todays "Total Package" standard? Ya gotta sing, ya gotta dance and ya gotta look GOOD!(if not GREAT!). Would voices and faces like Janis, Mick, Stevie Ray, or any number of others whose appeal was their talent, and they had MAGIC, charisma, some undefined attractant that set them apart yet endeared them to our hearts??? Do you think Bob Dylan would have made it to the semi finals?

I sincerely hope it's going down the drain, but when I see commercials for that bitch, it seems like it's on every other day. I don't know, man. Maybe it doesn't matter what the end result is for the "finalists" and "winners" as long as the show/network/Mr. Burns get's that paper. Dreams are apparently expendable.
