So last week, I made a post covering Ice-T's distaste for Soulja Boy's music and the less-than-kind statements he made about the teenager. Just a few days later, Soulja Boy responded with a YouTube video aimed at Ice-T.
Once you got past the four minutes of joking and giggling, Soulja Boy actually made a few valid points. In less than 48 hours Ice-T made a video of his own, offering a rebuttal to Soulja Boy ... you can view both videos below and judge for yourself.

Kanye chimed in= on his blog today and had this to say:
I AIN'T GOT NOTHING AGAINST ICE T OR NOBODY FOR THAT MATTER BUT I GOTTA RIDE WITH SOULJA BOY..
Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain't Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain't even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it's 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning... that's Nas level shit... he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track "Silent Murder" on it. In closing... new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original.... ain't no fuckin' rules to this shit and that's what real hip hop is to me.
Like I said in the previous post on this topic, although I'm not a fan of Soulja Boy's music, I defend him in this particular case. I believe it's astonishing that all these grown men in hip hop gang up to attack a teenager who makes a music for kids his age. Yet when something serious happens in the world, all the "gangster rappers" turn silent and don't punch people who can hit back.
If hip hop artists spent half as much time working on something positive as they did attacking each other, the world would be in trouble.

I didn't have a high opinion of Soulah Boy until I saw his response. I think he was right. Ice-T for his part, at least apologized and made his point about a 25 year old being old to a 17 year old, but I think he is the one who came out looking wack in the end.

"If hip hop artists spent half as much time working on something positive..."
What a dream. If they spent a third of the money they use for rims and cars (did you see Dame Dash when he said he never wears the same white t-shirt twice??? that's obscene) to build up the hoods that they rep in the songs right before moving out to gated communities, that would probably be a little helpful too.
There's too much tunnel vision; I know one man can't fix everything that's wrong with Queens, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, or Compton, but the money that some of these dudes have could play a positive roll. Schools, programs, health facilities... nevermind; they'll just put a couple tv's in the back of a headrest that nobody watches.
