Earlier this year, Bruce Williams, the longtime right hand man of Dr. Dre, wrote a tell-all book chronicling their relationship. One story in the book claimed the reverend Al Sharpton coerced Dr. Dre into donating 500k to Sharpton’s organization. This was in response to 50 Cent's rivalry with The Game and their altercation that led to a man being shot in the leg.
If Dr. Dre failed to comply with the "donation" Sharpton would launch a full scale PR attack on Dre's label and the partners of Aftermath Records. The story has been regarded as truth because Williams has been at the side of Dr. Dre for the last 15+ years, and if theres anyone with knowledge of incidents like this it would be him.
However, the reverend Al Sharpton, along with The Game's manager say the story is totally false.
Al Sharpton’s rep says:“The National Action Network and Reverend Al Sharpton were not involved with and did not attend a press conference held by hip-hop artists The Game and 50 Cent to announce their truce and donation to charities. At no point has Reverend Al Sharpton or an authorized representative of National Action Network met with Dr. Dre.
Jimmy Henchmen (Games's manager)
“I am 100 percent positive that the Game did not come to the conference in fear of Al Sharpton marching and Rev. Sharpton had nothing to do with that conference or donations affiliated with it.
